1789 Nostrand Ave

Brooklyn

Sometime before the start of WW2 Miguel, the 4th child of Miguel and Carmela decided to make the move away from Gibraltar and emigrate to New York, in Salvadors notes it suggests that they were married by proxy. I am in posession of Rosario's stamp collection and I found envelopes posted by Miguel to his brother Rosario in the early 1960's. Their address was 1789 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn. You can see the building on Google Streetview here HERE

Thier son Ocatvious unfortunately died at Traffic lights in a car crash in Brooklyn, I've no idea what date this happened but would be very interested to find out.

1940 New York Census

After searching online I found the 1940 census record of Miguel's family, he appears to have had 2 children by 1940, Octavious and Elizabeth... I did find a note that there was a 3rd child possibly called Julie.

The census states that Miguel worked as a handyman in the American Woolen Building, a large office building on Park Ave South, in the Flat Iron District of Manhattan.

Miguel was married to Concepcion (Connie) with son Octavius born in 1932, and daughter Elizabeth born in 1938 (possibly still with us). If anyone knows any more about Miguel or any of his familiy members please use the Whatsapp button to get in touch, I would love add to their story.
